Mountain Skiingif our 30 chair lifts aren't enough. June Mountain is a quieter place, very mixed use with an equal amount of snowboarders and skiers. Although that may seem scary to the skiers, it really isn't as the snowboarders have several terrain park areas so they are not often were the skiers are skiing. Ever since the Olympics, Mammoth Snowboarding has really taken off. Mammoth Mountain has 3 very large terrain parks and like June Mountain, you hardly see those guys buzzing around. Although, when the trick jumps are set up, you'll be wanting to chase after them and see them high flying. It is amazing to watch... from the bar.
If you're not at the hill, then you will want to be on a Mammoth Dogsled or taking the family for a ride on a Mammoth Snowmobile. Depending on the season, they take off from different places in town. In the early season, they run alongside Mammoth Mountain, and once snow has hit the lower altitudes, the best rides are at Smokey Bear Flats where you can just cut loose, do doughnuts and fly over mini snow mounds. It's a blast and you won't want to miss out. Winters activities are now more than just Mammoth skiing and snowboarding.
